You my friend, I will defend

It's no big secret that Alice in Chains is my absolute favorite band, probably even my favorite music artist of all time. I'm still collecting their discography, something that I cannot say the same for any other artist. And it still makes me sad whenever I think about seeing them in concert and realize that Layne Staley has been dead for about 7 years now. I know that technically they're still together, and they've actually been touring for about a year or two with some new lead singer, but it just wouldn't be the same to me. Think about it, you wouldn't watch Oprah if Oprah Winfrey had died...this is assuming they still kept the show going for some weird reason, the fucks. But it's the same basic principle.

Now, I've seen their music videos A LOT, far too much probably. But in some cases I still don't know what the fuck is going on in many of these v
ideos. Take the video for their "No Excuses" song for example. Watching any 10 seconds of it will leave you mindfucked. I understand the lyrics perfectly well, it's just the video that is ass-shit backwards. If you're curious enough, here it is. I would just embed it, but it was disabled for that particular video, and I cant be bothered to look for other ones.

Yeah, you can tell Layne was on some other shit. Well, that's what heroin will do to you...heroin and a bunch of other drugs taken together mixed with alcohol.

But that's enough about dead grunge rockstars for the moment. As for HOey's world, the grass is still green, the sky is still blue, and the economy is still just as bad was it was the day before, if not worse. Spring break is sneaking up on me, can't say I'm complaining too much about that though. A week off from class is always nice.

Hmmm, maybe one of these days I'll get around to getting my hair cut and shaving. You'd be surprised by how long it's been since I've actually done either of those, yikes.

The Academy Awards are this Sunday. I honestly really don't ever care about them, me and popular culture typically don't blend well. The long and the short of it is, I don't get why anyone cares about it ("it" being celebrities and what goes on in their lives, or who won which award for what, et cetera). But this year I'm hoping Heath Ledger takes the Best Supporting Actor award. For no real other reason except for that he was great in The Dark Knight. I would like to think his chances are good, given the 1/4 of his competition is fucking Robert Downey Jr. for whatever he did in Tropic Thunder. Yeah, Tropic Thunder. Good luck Heath.
